How does the Reading part work?
In the Reading part of the basic exam you read short Dutch texts and answer questions about them, at level A1. Here you build that up: first the words, then the sentences, then the texts.
How can you practise here?
You start at lesson 1 with 609 words and 690 sentences from everyday life, all with a picture, pronunciation and a translation into your language. After that you read short texts and answer questions about them — exactly what the exam asks of you.
How you build up your reading
Words with picture and sound
609 Dutch words in lessons 1 to 24, with a picture, the pronunciation and the translation in 12 languages.
Reading and understanding sentences
690 short sentences: you read them, hear them and practise them in different ways until they stick.
Short texts with questions
167 reading texts in the lessons that are ready now, with multiple choice questions about them. The database already holds 167 texts with 501 questions, for the lessons still to come.
Repetition that pays attention
Words you get wrong come back; words you know come back less often. So you spend your time on what you do not know yet.
A full practice exam for Reading does not exist yet. It is on the way.
